The School of Information Technologies is working to foster relationships with schools, teachers and school students around NSW, and Australia.

Below is a summary of the activities the School of Information Technologies at the University of Sydney will be running for high school students and teachers in 2009.

Girls Programming Network
Who: For academically gifted female students in Year 9-12, with or without programming experience.
When:

Saturday Saturday 24th October 2009,  12.00pm-5.00pm (kick-off day)
Tuesday 27th October 2009, 4.30pm-6:30pm (Meeting 1)
Tuesday 10th November 2009, 4.30pm-6:30pm (Meeting 2)
Tuesday 24th November 2009, 4.30pm-6:30pm (Meeting 3)
Tuesday 8th December 2009, 4.30pm-6:30pm (Meeting 4)

Where: School of IT building, University of Sydney
Cost: $55 per student per term (including GST).
 
National Computer Science School (2010)
Who: Year 11 (and some Year 10) students and teachers
When: Saturday 2nd-Monday 11th January, 2010
Where: School of IT and The Women's College, University of Sydney
Cost: $330 per student or teacher
  Application closing date: 13 November 2009
 
TeachPython (Beginners)
Who: High school teachers who want to learn to program in Python
When: 2009 - CANCELLED
Where: School of IT building, University of Sydney
Cost: $300 per teacher.

TeachPython (Advanced)
Who: High school teachers who completed our beginners course or already know some Python
When: 2009 - CANCELLED
Where: School of IT building, University of Sydney
Cost: $300 per teacher.

Special Offer: TeachPython (Beginners) and TeachPython (Advanced) can be booked together at the reduced rate of $550 per teacher.

NCSS Challenge
Who: High school students (Year 9 onwards) and teachers who want to learn Python
When: The NCSS Challenge runs for 5 weeks, commencing on Monday 10th August 2009.
Where: Online at www.challenge.ncss.edu.au
Cost: $12 per student or teacher.
Teachers free if students are participating at the same school.
