From the Head of School
Empowering students through the Undergraduate Mentoring Program
In 2001 the School initiated an undergraduate mentoring program, intended to provide support to junior IT students during their transition from high school. Eight years on, the program is still going strong.
USITAA Activities
The USITAA Executive and members have been actively working with the School of IT in the past few months, attending the Alumni Ball, Sydney Uni Live and the inaugural High School Career Counsellors and Principals’ Breakfast.
Workplace Research Centre Study

Staff profile: Masahiro Takatsuka
Why did Masahiro (Masa) Takatsuka choose a career in academia? Simple. “Honestly, I didn’t want to wear a tie!” It has worked so far, but Masa has found there are greater joys in academia than freedom of wardrobe.
Staff News
The School has done exceedingly well in this year ARC grants and promotions rounds this year, and Jon Patrick has been invited to join a World Health Organisation group.
Student news
IT students have been awarded AUC scholarships, and the School has awarded the first semester half-fee scholarships for postgraduate coursework students.
